Television Addiction: The Difference Between A Drug Intervention And An Alcohol Intervention

Television Addiction: When To Know It’s Serious

Television is definitely a way for people to wind down. Some people will record their favorite shows and then spend an entire day on the couch catching up with all their favorite characters. There are definitely people that are couch potatoes. A television addiction is something a little more serious. If your child is skipping school to watch TV and passing on outings with friends so that he or she can watch TV you definitely have a problem on your hands.

Drug Intervention: When To Call It Quits

How do you know when to call it quits on a drug intervention? If you’ve been talking with the addict for hours and hours about their addiction and they’re still refusing to admit they have a problem and refusing to go to rehab, when do you finally throw in the towel and say okay? There is never an easy answer to this question. Usually, a drug interventionist will know when enough is enough and it’s time to take a break from the entire thing. Sometimes you can burn an addict out and it really is time to call it quits for the night.

Alcohol Intervention: When It’s Just One Last Hurrah

At an alcohol intervention it’s normal for an addict to tell you that they’ll go to rehab they’re just going to go tomorrow or they’ll check in after the weekend. If you ask them why they want to wait a few days they usually say something along the lines of they have to get things in order. They need to let their boss know or they have an exam they have to take first and talk to the dean at their school about taking some time off. When the truth is they want one last party with their best friend named alcohol.
