Philip Valdez, MA, LADC, CADC1, Case Manager
Philip Valdez joins the team at Intervention 911 after being considered a hopeless case by many. He battled alcoholism for over two and a half decades during which time he was homeless and went to prison. He has a unique understanding of addiction and what it does to people suffering from this devastating disease and their families. He has been in recovery since July 9 2003 and is passionate about helping others who are in desperate need.
After several relapses, he finally realized a quality recovery and returned to school at age 38. He received his BA in Psychology with honors at the University of New Mexico and went on to earn an MA at the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies in Center City, Minnesota.
Philip has worked a variety of jobs including restaurant work, oil field work, remodeling homes and managing high tech businesses building fabrication facilities for computer manufacturing companies. Naturally empathic and compassionate, he favors Rogerian person-centered therapies when working with clients. Having lost both of his parents before achieving sobriety, he feels strongly about the importance of total family involvement in the recovery process.
