Drug Intervention Coordinator Glynis Anderson, LMSW / ACSW / Interventionist

Glynis Anderson is the Founder and CEO of Home of New Vision (HNV), a drug and alcohol nonprofit treatment facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. HNV provides services at 6 transitional homes for women in Southeastern, Michigan as well as co-occurring, outpatient, assessment and referral, education/prevention and outreach programs for men, women and adolescents.

Glynis is a recovering addict who has been sober since1990. After entering recovery, Glynis put herself though college earning an Associates in Criminal Justice, a Bachelors in Human Resource Administration from Concordia College and a Masters Degree in Social Work From Eastern Michigan University. Glynis began her professional career as an outreach case manager for the SSI Managed Care Project, working with both men and women in early recovery. During her time in this position, she recognized the need for case management and outreach services for clients in early recovery from substance abuse. Having lived in transitional housing while in early recovery, she appreciated it's value to recovering women. Glynis decided to open a transitional house when she discovered that this service no longer existed in her area. This single home soon became 6 with many associated programs. Not only has Glynis provided treatment services to women, but she has engaged herself in the community in which she lives to ensure that treatment and prevention services have been available to men and adolescents as well.

In addition to being CEO of Home of New Vision, she is a partner in A'HA Consultations; a consulting group that provides accredited substance abuse trainings for substance abuse professionals. She is a lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and Medical School and has served as a part time lecturer at Eastern Michigan University.

She is past recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award From Eastern Michigan University School of Social work and is the 2005 recipient of the prestigious Myron H. Wahls "Recovery is Possible" Award from the National Counsel on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Greater Detroit Area and past nominee for the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce Athena Award. She continues to be a champion of women's issues and is changing the face of addiction at both the State and local levels.
