Louise Collins, BA hons/ Drug Intervention Coordinator
Louise has travelled many varied paths and has been very actively engaged in the solution to addiction-based issues for the last half a decade. She brings with her a wealth of personal experience in the trenches with drug and alcohol abuse in particular. Still a 'bon vivant' at heart and very active in the local recovery community, Louise is at a point in her personal evolution where she derives satisfaction and comfort from being of service to her fellow human beings on a daily basis.
She's particularly sensitive to the issues facing the secondary victims of unchecked addiction in the workplace. After a recent career spell in the corporate world Louise had a series of devastating experiences in that environment which changed her perspective completely. She became convinced more than ever that addiction is a modern epidemic that will at some time touch most people either directly, or through coworkers, associates and loved-ones. The average person, no matter how accomplished in other areas doesn't typically have the skills or knowledge to combat this deadly disease. No longer content to passively watch others self-destruct from the sidelines, she resolved to make herself available and to try to help to make a difference, not just by example as before, but by dedicating herself to being a more pro-active part of the solution for those who are still suffering under the lash of a soul-destroying addiction.
